The Process / Live-demo-first

See it live
before you sign.

Bring me an idea and a few bullets. Within a week I'll send you a real, working, hosted demo of your site — no proposal, no invoice, no PowerPoint. You'll click it, feel it, and decide. This is the part nobody else does.

What separates me

A working prototype — on the house.

Most freelancers show you a slide deck of past work and ask for a deposit. I build you a live, hosted URL of your project first — so you know exactly what you're getting before you commit a single dollar. Signing happens after the demo, not before.

Free live demo
3–5 days
A hosted, clickable prototype before you commit. That's the deal.
Total timeline
~6 weeks
For a Professional package. Starter ~2–3 weeks, Premium ~7–8.
Point of contact
Just me
No account managers, no subcontractors, no handoffs.
The Phases

From idea to live.

01

The idea

1 call · ~30 min

You bring a rough idea and a few bullets. That's it. No 40-question brief, no upfront brand deck, no discovery-fee runaround.

What I do
  • Free 20-30 min call — what you want built, who it's for, why it matters
  • Ask three sharp questions to surface the real goal
  • Zero pressure — if we're not a fit, I say so on the call and point you elsewhere
What you do
  • Show up with a rough idea in your head and a few bullet points
  • Answer honestly about budget range and timeline pressure
  • Bring one or two reference sites if you have them (optional)
Deliverables

A shared, written understanding of what you want

Outcome

We both know if there's a project here — in under half an hour.

02

Live demo

3–5 days · on meThe differentiator

This is what nobody else does. Before you sign anything, before you pay a cent, I build you a real, working, live demo of your site — hosted, clickable, on your phone. You see the actual work, not a slide deck.

What I do
  • Build a live, hosted demo of your homepage (real code, not mockups)
  • Wire in your rough content, brand direction, and hero visuals
  • Send you a private URL — click it, share it with your team, sit with it
  • Walk you through it on a 15-min call if you want context
What you do
  • Click the link, use it on desktop and mobile, feel it
  • Show it to a spouse / partner / co-founder if that's how you decide
  • Come back with an honest gut reaction — yes, no, or maybe if we tweak X
Deliverables

A real, live URL of your project — before any commitment

Outcome

You've already seen the work. There is no 'ta-da' at the end because you saw the beginning.

03

Green light

~2 days

Only if the demo lands do we go further. Fixed price, fixed scope, paid in full upfront, and we're moving.

What I do
  • Send a written proposal with fixed price and timeline
  • Send the Client Services Agreement (PDF)
  • Answer any last questions before you sign
What you do
  • Sign the agreement (digital signature, or print + sign + email)
  • Pay the project fee in full — 100% upfront, before work starts
  • Lock in your kickoff date
Deliverables

Signed contract · paid invoice · kickoff date on the calendar

Outcome

The demo just became a project. My calendar clears for you.

04

Refine & build

~3–4 weeks

Now we expand the demo into the full site. Nothing is a surprise — the foundation is already something you've clicked on.

What I do
  • Extend the demo into every page and flow in your brief
  • Iterate on design in the browser — no Figma-to-code translation loss
  • Wire animations, micro-interactions, CMS, forms, and integrations
  • SEO baseline (meta, schema, sitemap) + GA4 + Search Console wired
  • Revisions per your tier (1 / 3 / unlimited rounds)
What you do
  • Feedback within 3 business days per milestone
  • Approve or request changes in writing (email or chat)
  • Provide final copy + assets (or add the Copywriting add-on)
Deliverables

Staging site · full source code in Git · SEO baseline

Outcome

The site works. On mobile. On desktop. On your grandma's iPad.

05

Launch & handover

~3 days

Domain, SSL, DNS, redirects. Then everything's yours — code, accounts, ownership.

What I do
  • Point your domain to production hosting
  • Set up SSL, redirects, robots.txt, sitemap
  • Submit to Google Search Console + Bing
  • Hand over: Git repo, DNS, CMS, analytics access
  • 30-day defect warranty starts
What you do
  • Approve go-live
  • Announce the launch (I can help with a social post)
Deliverables

Live site · full ownership · 30-day defect warranty

Outcome

The site is live, indexed, and 100% yours to host anywhere.

06

Aftercare (strongly recommended)

12 months → month-to-month

Yes — every client walks away with the code and can go it alone. But I strongly recommend a 12-month Care subscription with every new project, then month-to-month, so you get the strongest post-launch experience possible. Care isn't a maintenance fee; it's peace of mind on a monthly cadence.

What I do
  • Hosting, backups, plugin + framework updates (per tier)
  • Monthly content edits + refresh — small tweaks that keep the site sharp
  • Proactive performance + SEO health checks — you don't have to ask
  • Written monthly report so you actually see the value
  • Same-day email support M–F · a direct line to me, not a helpdesk
  • Priority queue — Care subscribers skip the line on every request
  • Locked-in rates — no price increases while you're subscribed
  • Anniversary check-in — 30-min annual review + a discount toward any design refresh
  • Referral credit — refer another paying client, get 2 months of Care free
What you do
  • Email me what needs changing — copy tweaks, new photos, price updates
  • Read the monthly report if you want; ignore it if you don't
  • Sleep well knowing the site won't quietly rot
Deliverables

Peace of mind · monthly reports · a site that stays sharp, safe, and fast

Outcome

You focus on running the business. I keep the storefront gleaming — and I'm here the moment anything needs a human.

Rhythm

One channel. Async by default.

I don't do 5 tools and 3 group chats. One shared inbox (email or Slack, your call), calls when they're needed, silence when they're not. You'll always know what's coming next and when I'll respond.

Async first

Email or Slack. No status meetings for the sake of them.

Same-day M–F

Emails answered within business hours. Complex asks might take longer.

Milestones = calls

Live walk-throughs at end of each phase. 30 min max.
